What our audiences have to say ...
'Beckis Cooper is absolutely captivating in this whistlestop tour through Shakespeare's heroines. Playing the role of a frustrated actress in 17th century London, Beckis brilliantly guides us through the many sides to the Bard's female cast, from the dizzying heights of first love with Juliet, to the powerful command of Portia as Balthazar. The aspiring actress regularly intersperses these soliloquies with her witty commentary on the irony of having female characters too nuanced and complex for women to play them (at least in British society)! The plight of the young woman will surely resonate with women making their mark in the arts today.
I was enraptured by Beckis' performance, which never dropped a beat. A highly enjoyable hour which I very much recommend you go see!'
'Just been to Unversed: what a brilliant, passionate, intimate and thoughtful exploration of Shakespeare’s well versed ladies. My favourites were her beautiful Desdemona (she did something heart breaking and lovely with her voice) and her Lady M was terrifying. I thought Beckis was utterly captivating.'
'Brilliant ! I loved every minute of it! A great linking theme and beautiful/fun/ moving performances. Beckis is completely at one with the verse. What a joy it was tonight - to hear Shakespeare acted so truthfully and to see such beautiful gesture and expression with every scene.'
